For a whole month, 261 chefs had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the characteristics and versatility of European pork. “EU Pork, The Smart Choice” campaign, held 6 masterclasses in different cities across China.
In 2024 the campaign collaborated with three institutions: Shanghai Institute of Tourism, Beijing Union University, and Omick School. Through a theory class and practical lessons, all trainees have learned about the key characteristics of European pork, and how it is always a smart choice.
For many participants, it was the first time to had the chance to attend classes held by experts in European meat. Including the opportunity to work with a professional carver. Sustainability, quality, safety, and animal welfare were the main topics of the theory lessons. In addition, trainees learned about the different cuts and the versatility of pork. In terms of the practical lessons, chefs studied and prepared a variety of Chinese and Western dishes featuring pork from Spain and Portugal.
