22 professionals enjoyed on June 22nd a productive ham carving training course in Shanghai.
The event was designed after From Farm to Fork campaign noticed that ham and ham carving always generated great interest among professionals and consumers alike in all campaign activities.
The event took place at 9th cloud, the restaurant on the 87th floor of Grand Hyatt hotel in Shanghai. Two renown professional ham carvers and two chefs, together with an MC and a Chief Sommelier, delighted guests over the course of the evening.
The experts reviewed extensive theory content, answering questions from the audience about the ham carving process and carving techniques.
After the theory was introduced, participants were divided among two groups and joined each of the professional carvers in an individual practice course. Each guest got their turn to carve, under the guidance of the carvers, in order to obtain thin and perfectly sized EU ham slices.
But ham is not only a product to carve, it involves a whole experience to eat it! Participants joined Grand Hyatt Executive Chef Ahmet in a cooking session using the carved ham to make tapas, which were later paired with delicious wines from Spain and Portugal.
After getting hands-on, the event also provided some relax time for participants to sit back and enjoy a cooking demonstration and a tasting of three different dishes featuring EU ham, paired with EU wines.
The event overall pleased participants and experts alike, and set the grounds for a developing professional industry of ham carving in China.
